Write for Rights

AmsterdamforAmnesty meets Sphere @ Pakhuis de Zwijger

AmsterdamforAmnesty organises this Write for Rights Event in Pakhuis de Zwijger.
One of the ten cases Amnesty International is writing for worldwide is Sphere, and their founders, Anna and Vira, are coming to Amsterdam!

Sphere is a NGO in Ukraine and have been championing LGBTI and women’s rights since 2006, and are among the oldest organizations of their kind in the country. Founded by activists Anna Sharyhina and Vira Chernygina, they provide a safe space for women and LGBTI people in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second largest city. In recent years, however, they have suffered dozens of attacks by violent anti-LGBTI groups. Anna and Vira report these incidents, but the police have failed to hold anyone accountable.

Join online and meet Anna and Vira wednesday the 8th of december from 8 PM. Listen to their story and ask your questions to these human rights defenders. Afterwards, there is the opportunity to write letters together. The event will be in English.

Write For Rights is Amnesty International’s largest annual letter writing campaign. Your letter will help convince government officials to take action, to free individuals unjustly imprisoned, and to seek justice for past human rights abuses.

Write a letter, change a life!
